About the position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-focused, experienced individual to join our Library Scholarly Collections Team. This position requires highly developed accuracy, organisational, analytical and operational skills with the ability to develop and deliver creative ideas to support the Library and extended communities. A strong commitment to the provision of high-quality customer services to the La Trobe University community is essential.

The role is also responsible for advice and support for Library Management System workflows related to the procurement and subscription of resources and providing metadata records to enable access and discoverability of resources for users. This position also focuses on the analysis and visualisation of relevant statistics and usage data to advise and make recommendations on collection development, changes to services, processes and procedures.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • Qualifications in information management or a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Demonstrated advanced experience relating to metadata creation and maintenance of library resource records
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in the acquisitions and cataloguing functions of a library management system.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt procedures or techniques to improve workflows and achieve excellent outcomes in relevant areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop new and innovative approaches to service delivery to meet identified and emerging needs.
  • Sound organisational and time management skills including the ability to set priorities, perform well under pressure and work independently or as a member of a customer focused team.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation, effective training and presentation skills; and the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across the University.
  • Demonstrated competence to operate and learn with confidence in a digitally connected and evolving environment.
