  • Located at our Concord Clinical School, 0.2FTE (7 hours a week), with a Base Salary $100,032 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation

As such, we are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are seeking a Clinical Skills and Simulation Educator to support teaching initiatives, and look after the Year 1-4 procedural clinical skills sessions across all years in the Sydney Medical Program. This may include didactic theoretical lectures, practical clinical skills demonstrations, supervision and/or practice in a realistic simulation environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate and/or teaches procedural clinical skills sessions across all years in the Sydney Medical Program

  • facilitate, implement, and deliver simulation-based education as part of the Sydney Medical Program

  • manage resource required for the Sydney Medical Program clinical skills sessions, including recruitment, support and evaluation of tutors who assist with or deliver procedural clinical skills teaching sessions and arrangement of patients

  • set up, prepare, and maintain all equipment for procedural clinical skills learning activities; develops and maintains competence in the operation of equipment, manikins, part-task training devices and audio-visual resources used in the day-to-day teaching of procedural clinical skills and maintains an inventory of all equipment

  • facilitate delivery of clinical based assessment, supports delivery of formative and summative clinical assessments and examinations

  • liaise with and establish effective working relationships with key staff to ensure that the work area’s education support, learning and teaching priorities and needs are effectively met.

About you

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • experience developing and delivering practical education programs, preferably in a tertiary education environment

  • experience in and sound understanding of timetabling/rostering of student activities

  • a valid with a WWCC

  • a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, or a Preceptor Course (desirable)

  • effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, along with the ability to prioritize workload during busy periods

  • excellent client focus with the ability to build partnerships between the Sydney Medical School/ Faculty teams and the school and local health teams

  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes

  • well-developed skills in clinical practice and teaching, including simulation, simulated patients and clinical skills training methods in health profession education.
