The Northern Clinical School (NCS) University of Melbourne is based in the Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (NCHER) located at the Northern Hospital in Epping. Reporting to the Department of Medical Education for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, NCS is responsible for all student affairs such as rostering, teaching arrangements, examinations and assisting and counselling students as required.

About the Role

The Clinical School Officer as part of a small team provides a high level of administrative support to the Director of Medical Student Education, Clinical Sub Dean, Clinical Supervisors, and the Clinical School Coordinator to collaboratively deliver a range of functions to ensure the effective delivery of the University of Melbourne Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the Northern Clinical School (NCS).

Responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive local administration of the MD program including; lecture and tutorial timetabling, allocations, assessments, examinations, curriculum planning and delivery, student services and information, for medical students during their terms at the Northern Clinical School
  • Administer allocations and placements across Northern Health campuses for students in year 1 to 4 of the MD program, as well as inbound and outbound clinical electives.
  • Delivery of high-level customer service to internal and external clients both over the phone, via email and face-to-face.
  • Provide accurate information and advice to students, academic and hospital staff

You will bring your excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity and confidence to build effective connections with a diverse range of stakeholders; as well as demonstrating your skills in determining priorities to effectively balance competing demands within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. 

You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education /training in student administration.
  • Experience in an administrative role supporting a range of functions, including the provision of advice about, and interpretation of, policies and procedures.  
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion and proven ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and appropriate manner.
