About the Clinic
Flinders Legal Centre (FLC) is operated by Flinders University and offers free, independent, and confidential legal advice and information. Our aim is to provide Client-centred lawyering through student-centred learning to embed professional skills and ethics.
FLC services are available to anyone in the community, and is accessible online, or in-person by arrangement. The practice also receives referrals from the Legal Services Commission of South Australia, Southern Community and Limestone Coast Community Centre, as well as other Community Legal Centres, private practitioners and the wider community.
Clients meet with Flinders University Law student interns and recent graduates, who can provide legal advice and information. These interns and graduates work closely with experienced supervising solicitors, and advise on a wide range of matters, including financial disputes and debt, Employment Relationships, Car accidents, Setting up a business, Insurance, Building and construction and Accommodation
About the Role
As the Clinic Supervisor you will be responsible for the effective supervision of a cohort of law students and law graduates (our ratio is 1:8), in the provision of high-quality advice to clients of the Flinders Legal Centre. You will also be responsible for the supervision of students involved in the First Year Clinic Placement Programme.
In this role you will contribute to the development, review, maintenance, and operation of the Flinders Legal Centre ensuring effective risk management and compliance with professional obligations.
About You
You are a high-level communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in the provision of legal advice and case work across a range of legal practice areas. You will be committed to student learning and demonstrate interest in experiential learning and teaching to effectively mentor junior legal practitioners.
With extensive experience as a legal practitioner, and holding a South Australian unrestricted practicing certificate to be successful in this role you will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications in law.
A current, full South Australian drivers license
An interest in giving back to the community
Solid knowledge & experience of a working legal practice
Familiarity with LEAP legal management software would be advantageous.
