  • Base Salary starting from $57,645 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Broken Hill Rural Clinical School (RCS) , also known as the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH), is funded under the Commonwealth Department of Health’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Programme . The UDRH operates a successful multidisciplinary rural clinical placement program for medical, nursing, and allied health students in far western, north, and southwestern NSW, contributes to research into rural and remote health issues; and supports health services and health related community development in the regions.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cleaner based at the Broken Hill campus, to ensure the administration and accommodation facilities of the Department are maintained in a high standard of cleanliness and well-presented environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work in coordination with department maintenance officer, executive officer, facilities team and staffs’ and students at the Broken Hill Rural clinical school

  • ensure all cleaning consumables are suitably stocked as required for all department facilities and accommodation, and kept in suitable fashion as directed by safe handling material guidelines

  • ensure all department workspace areas and temporary offsite student accommodation are maintained in a clean and well-presented condition

  • ensure all student and staff bathroom facilities are hygienically maintained

  • participate in OH&S and quality activities and report any student and staff facilities maintenance issues to the department maintenance officer as required

  • undertake any other duties as requested by the Executive Officer within the range of skills required for the position.

About you

  • demonstrated relevant work experience in commercial cleaning

  • demonstrated flexibility with the ability to work additional hours as required

  • demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service

  • proven knowledge of manual handling and safe work practices

  • ability to work as a team member and unsupervised

  • demonstrated experience in all aspects of cleaning requirements for a complex building

  • demonstrated experience in the use of all types of cleaning equipment including, vacuum cleaners, shampooing, etc

  • hold a current driver’s licence.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
