Upcoming retirement of our Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides this rare opportunity for a high impact technology executive to play an integral role in the delivery of UniSA’s Enterprise 25 strategy , through the provision of transformative and technologically advanced digital services.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the senior staff position of CIO is a key advisor to the Enterprise Leadership Team and is responsible for the University’s IT systems, supports, architecture and strategy. The role leads a team of 220 staff to deliver customer focussed support to approximately 3,000 staff, 37,000 students and other users. Key responsibilities include:

  • provide leadership of information strategy and enterprise architecture to ensure investment delivers digital transformation that advances and differentiates our teaching, learning, research and industry engagement activities
  • provide strategic vision and inspired leadership to reimagine technology and data use, underpinning creative solutions that position UniSA as a leader to thrive in the digital future
  • develop and implement a vision for the application of emerging technologies and capabilities
  • lead and maintain the ICT governance framework and ensure adequate risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including cyber risks
  • oversee operational, financial management and investment strategies relevant to digital services
  • provide leadership, development and management to inspire and foster a ‘one team’ culture of collaboration, engagement, integrity and commitment to service excellence

Experience and Skills

The successful applicant will bring a credible track record in IT leadership at senior management level, with evidence leading a significant program of technology projects, and in delivering innovative and creative technology solutions relevant to a large scale, complex environment. Other important success factors include:

  • postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • demonstrated commitment to service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
  • proven capabilities and experience in strategic planning, financial management, resource allocation, people management and risk management
  • demonstrated experience in developing and sustaining collaborative relationships and networks across a large and complex organisation and with a wide range of stakeholders
  • authentic alignment with the University's mission, values and cultural commitments and aspirations
