  • The successful applicant may be required to work across multiple centres
  • Base salary of $109,663 - $123,674 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Centre for Ageing Brain Science (CABS) is a Research Centre in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.  CABS aims to improve the lives of older Australians predisposed to, or living with, brain disease.  The Centre coordinates the collection of data and bio-specimens that will enable the next generation of researchers to improve the identification of risk factors, make faster more accurate diagnoses and develop new approaches to treatment . We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and innovative Centre Manager to provide operational leadership for the Centre of Ageing Brain Science to meet its core objective whilst also supporting the Centre, School and Faculty’s strategic research agenda.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • collaboratively work with the Centre Director, senior academic leaders and operational staff to lead the Impact Centre  
  • play a key role in overall business planning and implementation, monitoring and reporting 
  • work across multiple areas and provide strategic direction to ensure the Centre’s programs achieve their aims and operational objectives
  • drive improvement in process and overall performance and manage the workforce and operational resources
  • deliver on budget and financial management support and manage/prepare the Centre’s budget and work collaboratively with FMH Finance
  • initiate and develop long term relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • manage governance and compliance including committee membership, reporting and communications 

About you

  • Experience in research governance (human ethics and/or collaborative agreements), particularly associated with clinical cohorts
  • proven experience in research management within with the ability to work on multiple projects and adapting to changes in line with overall strategies 
  • extensive operational and administrative leadership, possessing the capability to translate strategic goals into operational initiatives 
  • advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters and stakeholders in the research process 
  • excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, students, management and external stakeholders  
  • financial management experience and literacy, experience in management budgets and controlling income and expenditure
  • has profound knowledge of ethics and regulatory requirements of trials in Australia (and ideally internationally) e.g. NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, ICH Guideline for Good Clinical Practice 
  • holds strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
