About the opportunity
The Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney are recruiting a casual Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Video Producer, to participate in a 2024 project funded by the University of Sydney’s One Sydney, Many People Strategy- Improving Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) Student Cultural Capability: Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scenarios into the FMH Simulation Curriculum.
The project aims to develop authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander simulation scenarios which are based on lived experience and which recognize the local context and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. All scenarios are co-designed and co-facilitated with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members.
The ultimate goal of the project is to improve cultural capability of FMH health professions students and help them graduate with the necessary skills to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The University of Sydney values the skills, expertise and unique cultural lens Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples bring to the University community, and we are looking for a casual Producer who can bring their lived experience and culture to participate in the project to help us ensure staff, students, and community members can engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture in respectful, ethical, and responsive ways.
The role/s would involve producing the developed simulation scenarios which will remain as sustainable video resources that will be embedded in the curriculum indefinitely. The successful candidate will work alongside University of Sydney’s production staff who can assist with pre-production planning, project management, direction, lighting, equipment set-up and editing. Sydney University video production equipment will be available for use.
It is likely that more opportunities will arise across the University as it seeks to build strong resources and communities across multiple potential simulation programs.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
film, edit and produce high-quality videos using software including Adobe Premiere Pro
work closely with staff to develop videos which reflect project goals
communicate and convey ideas effectively to diverse audiences, including students, faculty, and community members.
About you
be familiar with video production equipment such as DSLR cameras, lighting setups, and audio recording devices. Creative and good at troubleshooting
dedication to enhancing cultural competency within the faculty for better health outcomes, through the production of culturally appropriate health scenario videos
be reliable, punctual and professional in all interactions and engagements
have an understanding of the importance of the project's goals in improving cultural capability among health professions students and commitment to contributing to positive educational outcomes.
