Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Casual Student Success Partner (Orientation) (multiple positions available) to join Learning and Teaching Unit, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Casual Student Success Partner (Orientation) provides timely, relevant and proactive assistance to student peers in the first semester of study through the delivery of targeted orientation transition peer support in face-to-face and online environments. As a key member of the Student Retention team in SSTA, the position works in close collaboration with Educators, Coaches, and Student Partners across the Retention, Career, STEM, and Language and Learning teams in support of SSTA objectives.

SSTA is a large section within LTU employing more than 120 academic, professional and sessional staff, and student partners..

What you need to succeed

  • A current QUT student who has successfully completed at least the first year of their undergraduate degree (48 credit points) and has at least 96 credit points remaining.
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in-person and online and to be inclusive, empathetic and respectful in delivering services.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students or others from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic experiences, and an understanding of the issues that affect adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work effectively in a diverse team environment under general supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the rules of ethical conduct related to student data and ability to act in accordance with those rules and to maintain strict confidentiality.
