About This Opportunity 

We are looking for multiple Casual Nursing and Midwifery Practice Educators. Practice Education Team is responsible for facilitating students’ learning in practice, including practice-based learning in a variety of uni-professional and inter-professional learning environments, including simulation labs. Practice Educators will also support or provide direct supervision to students on placement and support assessment.  They will contribute to preparing students for placement and evaluating placement experiences.  Liaising with placement providers will be a key role and building relationships and capacity.  Practice Educators will undertake placement administrative tasks, liaising with placement. As a member of the inter-professional team they will participate in and facilitate inter-professional learning and instruction for students.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Practice Education

  • Apply recent professional experience to facilitate uni-professional and inter-professional practice learning in a variety of settings including simulation labs and dedicated practice learning spaces.

  • Contribute to the assessment of students’ knowledge and skills.

  • Contribute to the development of practice related courses, direct and advanced practice, teaching plans, materials for practice-based learning and assessment.

Placements

  • Organise and carry out placement supervision and student liaison for student placements across a variety of settings.

  • Ensure students have achieved required hours or requirements in accordance with relevant accredited programs.

  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop student led practice units and innovative placement opportunities.

  • Maintain practice currency and collaborate with academic staff to ensure teaching and learning activities, particularly to design simulation activities, reflect current best practice and emerging innovations.

Administration

  • Perform a range of administrative functions including liaising with University staff associated with all facets of placements and integrated learning, regarding student placement and assessments.

  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Head of Discipline, School Manager, Senior Lecturer - Clinical Academic and the Lead Practice Educators.

What we can Offer

This is a casual academic position (AC50B ), remunerated at $54.73 per hour plus 11% super.
