Overview:

  • Seeking applications from qualified Information Technology (IT) teachers with experience in teaching senior secondary school students, including international students, to teach Data Analytics and/or Software Development
  • Casual role to teach 1 - 2 classes
  • 1 class (5 hours) is 3 sessions a week, and each session is on a different day (2-2-1)
  • Hourly teaching rate is $86.49 and non-teaching rate is $66.29 
  • Great office location - Bourke Street Melbourne

About Foundation Studies

The RMIT Foundation Studies Program a pre-tertiary pathway program consisting of courses comparable in standard to an Australian Year 12 curriculum. It is a nationally recognised program that equips international students with the skills and capabilities to seek entry into higher education programs in Australia. This program is designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into a range of higher education programs. It develops a mix of discipline knowledge, academic English and study skills in a supportive, flexible and learner-centred environment. It aims to assist students to become independent, critical and lifelong learners and to maximise their potential for success in an Australian university context.  

About You

To be successful in this position you will have:

Essential 

  • Experience teaching VCE Information Technology courses at a senior secondary level or in a Foundation Studies program.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing both in face-to-face and online classes using a Learning Management System such as Canvas.  
  • Substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position. 
  • Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team. 
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies such as Zoom. 
  • Current Working with Children Check. 
  • A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught plus: 
    • A formal teaching qualification AND 
    • Minimum two years’ relevant teaching experience, including breadth of experience in delivering to students from non-English speaking backgrounds.  

Desirable 

  • VIT Registration
  • Proven collegiality and the ability to share ideas
  • Knowledge of current pedagogical practices
  • TESOL (English Language Teaching Qualification)
