About the team

The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) is a national research and education centre dedicated to catalysing social change for a better world. CSI is built on the foundation of four of Australia’s leading universities: UNSW, The University of Western Australia (UWA), Swinburne University of Technology and Flinders University.

Our research develops and brings together knowledge to understand and respond to current social challenges; our postgraduate and undergraduate education develops social impact leaders; and we aim to catalyse change by drawing on these foundations and translating knowledge, creating leaders, developing usable resources, and reaching across traditional divides to facilitate collaborations.

The Centre for Social Impact at UWA (CSI UWA) delivers a Graduate Certificate of Social Impact, an undergraduate unit in Social Impact and executive education in our areas of expertise. CSI UWA’s primary research areas are homelessness, entrenched disadvantage and poverty, unemployment, aged care, mental health, social innovation and social finance. CSI UWA is also a leader in outcomes measurement and evaluation of social programs and initiatives.

About the opportunity

You will be responsible for industry and funder engagement, communications, local stakeholder engagement, social media and content production relating to research impact events (particularly around the release of research publications).

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in communications and/or media with subsequent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and funder relationships and engagement
  • Substantial level of knowledge/experience gained in a relevant professional field including media and communications writing, and editorial
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, writing and publishing social media content and posts, and website content
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work across a broad spectrum of subject areas particularly in the social
  • impact space and the research focal areas of CSI UWA
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to provide superior customer service and support to clients, partners and donors at all levels
  • Highly developed influential and relationship building skills in dealing with stakeholders at all levels, including the media
  • Demonstrated expertise in content production and execution across all digital mediums including social media and websites
  • Demonstrated ability to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems in a fast paced and demanding environment
