About the opportunity

Unique opportunity to work in an influential role within The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) at The University of Western Australia.  This exciting Communications Officer role at CSI includes the opportunity to work on a broad range of work including research projects such as homelessness, entrenched disadvantage and mental health; education offerings and the Danjoo Koorliny Project. 

Key responsibilities

  • Design, coordination and implementation of a communications, marketing, publicity and multimedia strategy to support CSI UWA and Danjoo Koorliny project
  • Conceptualise, design and produce editorial content across multiple digital and offline channels to support and promote CSI and CSI UWA’s education, research and general offerings, and Danjoo Koorliny’s activities and key narrative (website, social media platforms and e-newsletters)
  • Work with the CSI UWA management team and CSI National Communications team to produce CSI website content and optimise website content and campaigns for SEO and agreed ROI
  • Work in collaboration with the relevant CSI teams in relation to the promotion of CSI’s education, professional development and research offerings and the effective delivery of research impact events and the promotion of research publications and findings
  • Provide guidance in developing on-campus activations and industry communications, with associated content development, including promotional materials such as brochures
  • Prepare materials for media agencies (e.g. scripts, question and answer documents) and liaise with the UWA Public Relations team to facilitate responses to media enquiries
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local scholarship recipients, students, and alumni, to create/generate CSI ambassadors and feed content into donor stewardship programs
  • Work in collaboration with the CSI UWA management team and CSI National Industry Director to support the implementation of scholarship appeals, identifying and securing philanthropic gifts and developing and managing donor and partnership stewardship
  • Work with the CSI UWA and Danjoo Koorliny teams in identifying and writing research grant applications
  • Other duties as directed

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in communications and/or media or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience in a relevant professional field including media and communications writing, and editorial or partnership management
  • Demonstrated experience and/or passion for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations or initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing website content and a sound understanding of the website’s role in an organization’s communication strategy
  • Demonstrated expertise in content production and execution across all digital mediums including media, search, websites, social media and mobile platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support partnerships, industry-funded projects and donor relationships with a range of stakeholders, and associated funding through effective industry stakeholder engagement
