Overview
Edith Cowan University is a large, multi-campus institution serving communities nationally and internationally. The University currently has two metropolitan campuses at Mount Lawley and Joondalup, and also serves Western Australia’s Southwest Region from a campus at Bunbury, 200km south of Perth.

The School of Education is one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Education in Australia with an excess of 5,000 students.  The school offers a broad range of programs including Early Childhood Studies (ECS), Primary, Secondary and Postgraduate Education.

ECU School of Education leads, initiates, and sustains high quality research that effectively addresses pertinent issues faced by learners and educators both within and beyond educational settings, and across the lifespan.

With experts from Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary working in partnership with a range of agencies to strengthen and advance knowledge, policies, and practices in education. Our four key research programs are: equity and inclusion within education, teacher education, innovation in policy and practice, and education within social settings.

The School of Education is looking to identify a pool of research assistants who can provide services regarding possible project management, literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, report writing, and contribution to academic articles.

Successful applicants for Casual Research Assistant positions:

  • Will possess either a master’s degree (Research); or Bachelor Honours Degree (First or Upper Second class); and/or enrolled in a PhD in any field.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Be able to work independently and to required timeframes.
  • Adhere to guidelines regarding scholarship conditions, or secondary appointment.
  • Obtain written support from their supervisor if they are a HDR student.

Professional equivalence will be considered in one or more of the following:


  • Performing in a role that requires high order judgement and the provision of expert advice, or roles at a senior level.
  • Independent management of projects relevant to education.
  • Testimonials, awards, or other recognition that acknowledge and recognise leadership or expertise in educational research.
  • Peer reviewed publications in the field of education.
  • Publications including books, reports, articles, or creative works.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that align with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence, and Courage.


Benefits and Remuneration
