Casual Academic Opportunities within the School of Education

The University of Adelaide’s School of Education is seeking expressions of interest for casual academic vacancies.

Casual academics are needed to teach in undergraduate and postgraduate education courses, and may be employed to deliver tutorials and workshops, marking, supervise postgraduate students research, or as University Liaisons who support students on placement in schools.  Applicants must have teaching/leadership experience in middle and/or secondary Australian school and a contemporary understanding of learning theory, knowledge of the Australian curriculum, SACE and be competent using technology.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD or equivalent in education.
  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • Teaching/leadership experience in middle and/or secondary Australian schools.
  • Current Teachers' Registration.
  • A contemporary understanding of learning theory, knowledge of the Australian curriculum, SACE and be competent using technology

For 2022, the School of Education is seeking casual tutors to teach into the Curriculum & Pedagogy courses. Casual tutors are specifically being sought from the following curriculum areas: Classroom Music/Instrumental Music; Science, in particular Physics, Biology and General Science; Languages/LOTE; Business Studies (Accounting, Economics, and so on); English (EALD, English, and so on); HASS (Geography, Legal Studies, History, and so on); and Mathematics.

Please note: causal tutors will most likely be scheduled to teach outside of normal school hours during Term 1 and 2 or during Semester 1 of 2022.

To be successful you will need:

  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • Five or more years teaching/leadership experience in a relevant curriculum area in middle and/or secondary Australian schools.
  • Teachers' Registration and have commenced or completed a Masters level qualification in education.
  • A contemporary understanding of learning theory, knowledge of the Australian curriculum, SACE and be competent using technology.
  • Experience teaching and assessing at a tertiary level.
  • Experience using a CANVAS based learning management system.
