We are seeking dedicated and passionate casual academic staff to assist with the delivery of our medical program in 2022.
Casual rates aligned with the University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement and an employer contribution of 10% superannuation will apply.
A number of roles are available, including:
Medical Professional & Personal Development: this role involves delivery of professionalism, leadership and communication content to students.
Clinical Practice: this role involves demonstrating to, and providing feedback on, clinical and communication skills. Availability required on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays (8am-12pm and/or 1pm-5pm)
Scenario/Case Based Learning (SBL/CBL): this involves support of small-group learning and is a dominant learning mode during the early years of the medical curriculum. SBL/CBL emphasises the need for students to be able to apply their knowledge of anatomy/physiology/pathophysiology in a clinical context as well as consolidate their learning across the multiple domains of the program. Availability required on Wednesday/Friday year 1, Monday/Wednesday/Friday year 2, Friday mornings year 3.
Anatomy Demonstrating:this involves small group discovery experiences, presentations and practicals that will cover the regions of the body routinely examined clinically as part of an initial patient assessment.
Teaching students in Adelaide Medical School, you will be responsible for upholding the academic quality and integrity of the program, in consultation with the Program and Course Coordinators.
You will be located at either the Biomedical precinct in Adelaide Health & Medical Sciences building, or the Helen Mayo South Building on Frome Road and participate in supporting students in the medical program as directed by the relevant course coordinators.
There is an expectation that our teachers will participate in the peer review process and on-going review of their teaching, as to reflect our commitment to high quality education.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated experience teaching in Scenario/Case Based Learning and/or; a Medical Professionalism and Leadership program and/or; Clinical Practice and/or; Anatomy Demonstrating.
- Demonstrated experience of undergraduate teaching in medical education.
- Demonstrated experience of student support.
- Experience in assessment of student performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and information technologies to support student learning.
Desirable
- MBBS (or equivalent) and/or PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Practicing clinician.
- Registered with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) (essential for Clinical practice teaching and Medical Professional & Personal Development teaching).
- Postgraduate fellowship of specialty college (e.g. FRACP, FRACGP).
