About the Role

Flinders University is seeking a knowledgeable casual academic to contribute to excellence in teaching and learning within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences . The incumbent will primarily support topics within the suite of undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to Population Dynamics and Social Statistics , with the guidance of more senior academics.

More specifically, as a Casual Academic in Human Geography, you will:

  • Collaborate with senior academics to create, coordinate and conduct both online and face-to-face lectures and tutorials.

  • Contribute to the organising, planning, delivery, and evaluation of topic and course materials within the suite of Population Dynamics and Social Statistics.

  • Undertake marking of assessments.

About You

You will have demonstrated experience teaching at a tertiary level, and you will be passionate about delivering an innovative approach to learning. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to establish positive relationships with staff and students.  

In addition to this, you will have experience and knowledge in Social Statistics and/or Demography. You will have demonstrated:

  • Post-graduate qualifications in Population Studies, Statistics, Demography, and/or related fields.

  • A sound understanding of statistical methods and tools used to understand and analyse quantitative data related to human development.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of demographic theory, methods, techniques, and contemporary demographic issues.
