The specialist team at Curtin Student Success provide services, support, and extracurricular programs to facilitate the leadership, career and employability development, and community mindedness of Curtin students and graduates.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Career Development Consultant - Leadership to join Curtin’s Student Success Team.  You will provide a full range of services related to leadership development, with a focus on strengthening students’ skills and facilitating positive lifelong learning, assisting their transition to graduate employment or further study.

In this role you will:

  • Plan, deliver, scale, evaluate and report on co-curricular Leadership Development at Curtin, including the Gamechangers Leadership Program, John Curtin Leadership Academy, John Curtin Scholarship Program and other Scholarship programs.
  • Apply a Students as Partners approach to champion, support and promote opportunities for students to be co-creators of their learning and student experiences at Curtin.
  • Work with the Curtin Credentials team to develop a set of leadership capabilities to inform assessments associated with Curtin micro-credentials.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, students, community organisations, and industry to deliver opportunities for students to engage in curricular and co-curricular leadership development opportunities.
  • Report on leadership development initiatives across the University, with a particular focus on those aligned with Curtin’s Students as Partners approach.
  • Support the maintenance of our Leadership Development online presence, showcasing leadership learning opportunities, and profile associated student, alumni and staff work.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant postgraduate degree qualification and understanding of leadership development programs in a Higher Education setting.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of leadership or career development learning.
  • Demonstrated ability in needs analysis and development of high-quality resources and learning programs for adult learners as well as knowledge and skills in a range of service delivery models appropriate to this position.
  • High level effective oral and written communication competencies, including computer and data base literacy.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals and establish effective relationships, and to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of current trends in employability skills, international and national industry labour market trends and developments in the delivery of career development programs and services and the research skills to maintain this knowledge.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to deliver and review specific projects that enhance students’ career development learning and engage internal and external stakeholders

Desirable     


  • Experience in providing careers & employment related services ideally from within the University or TAFE sector or alternatively experience within other careers services, HR or Recruitment.
  • Eligibility or and/or registration as a Career professional with the Career Industry Council Australia. A strong understanding of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners
