The Calleo Indigenous Scholarship has been established to encourage and support a commencing Indigenous student who has experienced hardship to enrol in an undergraduate degree in Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University.

It also gives me the motivation and confidence to strive for excellence, as I know I have the support of others. The opportunity to follow one's dream is not one I take lightly, and I am fortunate to have a scholarship that is helping make my dream a reality.


Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
  • An Australian citizen

You must meet the following criteria:
  • Commencing student enrolled in or intending to enrol in an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at a Monash campus in Australia.
  • Are an Indigenous Australian **
  • From one or more of Monash University's defined educational disadvantage categories.
  • ATAR 75+ for Indigenous.

**To be eligible you must provide a Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate or a certified Statutory Declaration form to the William Cooper Institute. Benefits
  • $8,000 per annum for up to a maximum of two years.
  • An invited to apply for a place in Monash Minds, a full-funded leadership program for Indigenous first-year students.

Selection criteria

  • Awarded based on need.

To retain this scholarship:

  • You must maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 each semester.


How to apply

  • VTAC applicants - If you think you might be eligible for an equity scholarship, ensure that you apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) through VTAC between Monday 31 July (9am) and Friday 6 October (5pm) to be automatically considered.
  • This scholarship cannot be deferred
