About the role

The Business Development Cluster Lead for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) provides business development leadership to the Faculty, working collaboratively to develop and drive business development strategy, identifying opportunities for growth, collaboration, and commercial partnership between researchers and external partners across the public and private sector. This includes managing commercial opportunities and identifying and supporting major strategic initiatives. Leading a highly capable team, the Business Development Cluster Lead plays a key role in promoting the capabilities of the Faculty to industry, government, and across the University.

About you

You are a highly regarded research commercialisation professional, with deep expertise in leading and negotiating major life science deals, particularly in relation to industry partnerships, contracts, licensing, start-ups and spinouts. You have strong life science industry experience, sector knowledge and networks, and have enjoyed considerable success in securing funding to support research translation and commercialisation, including from relevant grant schemes, and both commercial and venture funding. Highly credible across both industry and academia, you are collegiate and collaborative builder of strategic relationships, and a naturally empathetic and supportive leader of people. An empowering leader, you have deep, sector-wide knowledge of how industry works, and know the levers and challenges of industry well enough to be able to consistently guide major business into the University.  Key to your success in this role will be your ability to spark curiosity and commitment to find innovative and win-win research commercialisation outcomes across MDHS, the University, and the wider Australian corporate and government community.
