  • Remuneration: Total remuneration range: $130,901 to $148,369 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $110,613 to $125,373 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Business Associate, Industry Research to join Office of Research Services, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Business Associate role supports QUT academic staff to develop high quality submission documentation for consultancies and commercial or sponsored research projects (‘CCSR Projects’). In addition the role will assist with management of university and industry sponsored clinical trials. This includes liaison with government and industry teams, regulatory bodies, and the facilitation of governance aspects of CCSR Projects in accordance with the University’s External Funding Research Policy, especially contract negotiation and execution.

Office of Research Services (ORS) works with QUT staff, students, collaborators, and partners to identify, attract and manage funding from competitive and commercial sources. The Industry Research pillar within ORS makes a key contribution to ensuring the University has a well-managed, integrated approach to supporting the attraction, establishment and management of commercially funded research activities and consultancies, as well as assisting in the management of clinical trials..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline in conjunction with extensive experience in a commercial or government related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience of clinical trial establishment and administration in a university or commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the review and evaluation of opportunities and the preparation of proposals and responses to tenders targeting various government departments and private industry organisations, and managing associated commercial interactions.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating legal contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external clients to negotiate successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving.
