About the Role

The ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation is seeking a strategic and accomplished Business and Operations Manager to provide day-to-day, strategic business and financial management of all Centre research programs and operations. This is a unique opportunity to partner with researchers and stakeholders to establish and grow the Centre on a national and international scale.

In this multifaceted position, you will be responsible for resourcing, staff management, devising program budgets, contract management, financial management, reporting, policy development, and supporting strategic development.

More specifically, as a Business and Operations Manager, you will also:

  • Provide high level advice and recommendations on policies and procedures relating to the management of the Centre.

  • Contribute to the development of project plans for HDR and postdoctoral projects.

  • Develop and manage a register of Centre-created intellectual property, publications, media releases, events, and presentations.

  • Implement and support an early career mentoring program and organise all student and postdoctoral placements.

About You

You will have high level management experience, with the ability to contribute towards the strategic planning and operational protocols of the Centre. As an exceptional collaborator, you will strive to foster strong partnerships with leadership, industry partner organisations, researchers, and students. Your strong business management and financial acumen and your sound analytical skills will allow you to implement new policies and initiatives, and monitor complex budgets.

To be successful, you will also demonstrate:

  • Experience in the management and administration of complex research projects/programs with proven ability to ensure effective completion of tasks within deadlines.

  • Leadership and staff management skills including the ability to encourage a collaborative work environment and an orientation towards achievement of goals.

About ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation 

We are the leading Australian research and training centre tackling biofilm-related challenges. 

The ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation , led by Flinders University, is a 5 year, $7.8m research and training program, bringing together 5 universities, 10 industry partners and key industry and regulatory bodies to deliver innovative research and biofilm solutions to tackle important issues for the maritime and water industries. 

By working with industries to develop innovative solutions that meet their needs and alleviate their biofilm-related problems, the ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation aims to: transform biofouling management strategies for maritime platforms; train the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists and engineers; and to develop biofilm management strategies across the defence and water industries to address evolving regulatory stringency.
