About the Role

Reporting to the Manager: Programs and Academic Policy, The Business Analyst: Statutory Reporting is responsible for leading and coordinating activities to provide high level accurate statutory returns to the Commonwealth Government.  This includes identification and resolution of errors, providing advice and recommendations regarding validation reports, and   the continuous improvement of business and system processes.

The Student and Academic Services (SAS) unit provides senior leadership in student and academic administration in a distributed service environment. It is responsible for the development and maintenance of policy, information systems and procedural frameworks.  The Unit coordinates and provides quality assurance for a number of University functions including student admissions, enrolments, examinations, graduations, student finance and scholarships.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent skills and experience in a similar role at an appropriate level and a demonstrated commitment to the further development and enhancement of knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex information systems and processes using highly developed analytical and information management skills, a high degree of computer literacy and the ability to troubleshoot system related problems using available tools such as database reporting tools and Microsoft software applications and experience with a relational data base application and knowledge of SQL
  • Demonstrated ability to present and interpret statistical data in a meaningful way
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and negotiation/influencing and relationship building skills, including the ability to work with technical, academic, and administrative staff at all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical thinking including experience in developing and providing training
