  • Level A: $83,107 - $97,367 + 17% superannuation

The Institute of Cybersecurity and Cryptology (iC2) as a part of the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) is seeking for a full-time associate research fellow position to research Pro-Resilience: Game Theory and ML/AI-driven Data Analytics for Cyber Security project, which is jointly funded by SCIT and CSIRO Data61.

iC2 is one of the largest cybersecurity groups in Australia. As a leading research institute, iC2 conducts state-of-the-art research in cybersecurity and contributes to the enhancement of the security. UOW is a leading Australian university with a history of outstanding achievements in teaching and learning, research and community engagement. The University has established a strong research profile and an outstanding record of achievement in research performance and intensity over the last decade. Particularly, UOW is top-ranked among Australian universities in the ERA (2018) ranking with ERA score 5.

The applicant is expected to be equipped with good knowledge of ML/AI and self-motivated to solve real cybersecurity problems using their knowledge. Applicants who are willing to conduct interdisciplinary research in ML/AI and cybersecurity are encouraged to apply. The knowledge of cybersecurity is a plus but not mandatory for the position. Having a strong publication track record such as papers published in top rank cybersecurity or AI/ML conferences is an advantage.

The potential research topics include but not limited to the followings:

  • Autonomous Vulnerability Analysis: Vulnerability analysis using AI/ML and Game Theory with a minimum (or no) human intervention.
  • Adversarial Machine Learning: Identifying vulnerabilities in machine learning algorithms and developing feasible defence methodologies.
