The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance

Curtin’s School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is seeking to enhance its capacity in investment, behavioural and experimental finance through the appointment of two Teaching and Research Finance Academics on a full time, continuing basis. Applications are invited at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor. The Finance group has a growing interest in experimental finance and strongly favours candidates with experimental lab experience. In addition, the School is interested in boosting its number of CFA Charter holders.

What we are looking for

  • A doctoral qualification in Finance
  • An established record of highly productive research outputs in investment, behavioural or experimental finance with regular publication in high quality refereed academic journals, or outputs in other outlets, consistent with an international reputation in the field of finance. Publications featuring laboratory experiments are particularly desirable.
  • A record of successful external grant applications in Finance or related disciplines.
  • A record of leadership in the Finance discipline at either an international or national level.
  • Significant experience and record of mentoring colleagues including early career researchers.
  • Significant experience and record of providing supervision to higher degree research (HDR) students
  • A demonstrated record of achievement in and commitment to excellence in teaching finance
  • Demonstrated achievement in the discipline of Finance through the scholarly development and delivery of high-quality educational courses 

Appointments at Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor level are expected to provide leadership in research and teaching to early career academics and to have supervisory experience.

The Curtin Experimental Economics Laboratory
 
The Curtin Experimental Economics Laboratory (CEEL) is one of over 100 experimental economics laboratories in operation worldwide. These labs are pivotal in understanding how people make decisions and CEEL joins this tradition. The lab offers a controlled environment for understanding the key components of a wide range of individual and group decision making scenarios as well as an active participant pool. Traditional experimental software such as z-Tree, o-Tree, as well as less traditional custom built applications can be delivered to 18 networked participant workstations.
