The Opportunity
Criminology at Monash is internationally renowned for its global focus on crimes that cause widespread, measurable harm and the prevention of these harms. Monash criminologists examine crime and crime control in a time of massive social change and global mobility. We have a strong research culture, led by a dynamic group of researchers. Monash Criminology is distinct in Australia for its consistent success in attracting national and international competitive funding for major research. We are research leaders in global fields of inquiry including migration and border regulation, the exclusion and exploitation of vulnerable populations, domestic and family violence, policing and imprisonment. Monash criminologists are nationally and internationally recognised for their research in cyber-crime, technologically mediated harms and crime prevention.
Monash Criminology has an exciting opportunity for either an Associate Professor OR Professor to join our high performing team. As a key member of Monash Criminology, you will play a leading role in shaping the future and fostering excellence in the school.
You will actively engage in:
- Specialist research aligned with the Faculty’s research strategy
- Significant contributions to the profession and/or discipline both internationally and domestically
- Development and delivery of high quality undergraduate and graduate coursework offerings designed for both on-line platforms and face-to-face activities
- Provision of expert leadership in research and education: including participating in School and Faculty strategic planning and/or committees
- Contributing to the development of policy and strategies
- Maintaining and broadening collaborative partnerships both internally and externally
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Demonstrate a strong track record in research excellence and research funding success
- Demonstrate leadership across research and service
- Demonstrate a strong ability to mentor staff and students
- Have a proven record of excellence in teaching Criminology at both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework levels
- Have proven interpersonal and leadership skills functioning in both academic and professional bodies
