Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)

Remuneration: $173K - $221K base (+17% super and leave loading)
Location: Kensington, Sydney

The Organisation

The School of Health Services at UNSW is rapidly expanding to service education agendas based on our four ground-breaking health professional education programs. These programs will see the scope of our teaching effort broaden significantly and shape the future Health workforce in Australia and beyond.

Why this role matters 

This position plays a key role in the School, leading and advancing outstanding education and research at national and international level. You will inspire your team to develop, innovate and progress programs in your discipline. This position will play a key role in school leadership and be responsible for ensuring the accreditation of the exercise components of programs in the School. This includes responsibilities for engagement with other disciplines and working with the Indigenous Health Education team. The position will report to the Head of School, Health Sciences and has direct reports from the Discipline of Exercise.

A continuing Level D/E position will be offered with commitment to the role of Discipline Lead for a minimum of 3 years.

Some key skills required:

  • A PhD in Exercise or other related health / medical disciplines.
  • Accreditation with ESSA as an Exercise Scientist or Exercise Physiologist (or demonstrated eligibility and willingness to seek accreditation).
  • Demonstrated high level experience in curriculum development, leading teams and development of research strategy.
  • Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
  • Extensive experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches and technologies, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • High level experience with industry or work-integrated learning
  • Excellent record of recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
