The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance

Courses in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance provide students with an intellectually stimulating learning experience and offer a learning environment characterised by high-quality, innovative teaching practices informed by cutting edge research.  Our strong connections with industry ensure our programs are continuously refined to respond to market needs.

The School is seeking to enhance capacity and leadership within our Accounting discipline through the appointment of an experienced Associate Professor/Professor, undertaking both teaching and research.  

The successful applicant will be expected to commence no later than January 2023.

Your new role

  • Deliver high quality and innovative teaching to undergraduate, honours and postgraduate Accounting students across a range of modes.
  • Foster a culture of teaching excellence in Accounting units.
  • Lead major curriculum initiatives and/or pedagogical developments.
  • Undertake nationally and internationally competitive and high quality research in accounting
  • Disseminate research findings through publications in high quality peer-reviewed international journals and through seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Initiate and lead research projects with industry, government, and university partners.
  • Work in partnership with industry and government to translate research findings into real-world impact and commercialisation opportunities.
  • Significantly contribute to and provide leadership within the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance to meet strategic objectives.
  • Significantly contribute to and provide leadership in external activities relevant to the accounting discipline/profession and community engagement.
Essential Criteria
  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement in and commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated achievement in the discipline through the scholarly development and delivery of high quality educational courses.
  • Established record of highly productive research outputs, consistent with a national and growing international reputation in the field.
  • Significant record of securing research revenue, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership experience in the discipline/profession and in community engagement.
  • Significant experience and record of providing supervision to higher degree by research students.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of this position’s functions.
Work Requirements
  • Prior to appointment, the recommended applicant will need to complete a current criminal record check in accordance with the University's National Police Certificate Assessment Procedures.
