  • Salary Package: Lecturer (Level B) from $115,787 - $136,995, Senior Lecturer (Level C) from $141,376 - $162,584 or Associate Professor (Level D) from $169,789 - $186,759 plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: Full-time, continuing

The Role

A position is available within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences for academics with expertise in clinical Audiology teaching and leading research in hearing health.

The Department of Linguistics are seeking an academic in the Teaching and Research (Academic Job Families ) . This position will contribute primarily to the Master of Clinical Audiology program, with some additional involvement in teaching in undergraduate courses.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate strengths across clinical Audiology knowledge, teaching and experience in the curriculum design and delivery of teaching in Audiology courses. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, teach and convene units at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and will demonstrate strengths for future potential across other teaching streams of the Department. They will hold (or be eligible to hold) a clinical certificate of practice in Australia. The applicant will hold a PhD and have a well-defined and impactful program of research in hearing health or a related field.

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification in Audiology, eligible for full membership of Audiology Australia;
  • Level B Masters or equivalent (or working towards a PhD), Level C PhD in a relevant field, Level D PhD in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the area of audiology and ability to lead practical classes focused on audiological clinical skills development.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of online content, lectures, tutorials, and assessments.
  • Demonstrated success in the academic leadership in teaching using innovative approaches, including evidence of positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to the academic life and administrative tasks of an academic department and a track record of effective team work.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the University to external stakeholders and the general public.

Level D in addition to the above

  • Exceptional teaching skills including experience leading teaching teams and learning and teaching initiatives which enhance student outcomes
  • Evidence of original and innovative contributions in pedagogy, teaching practice and/or curriculum development
  • Demonstrated academic leadership in the delivery of large and/or multidisciplinary programs

Desirable

  • Evidence of creating a superior student experience and engagement with cohorts using a range of contemporary learning platforms, technologies and tools.
  • PhD within the area of Audiology.
  • Experience teaching or conducting research in the area of either electrophysiology or cochlear implants.
  • Experience with varied caseloads in clinical practice.
  • Eligible for Audiology Australia Clinical Certificate of Practice.

Appointment level will be in accordance with demonstrated qualifications, skills, and experience

This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW. You may also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).
