About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is seeking an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in to contribute to the design and delivery of Haematology and Transfusion Science units within the new Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science.

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science is the Bachelor of Biomedical Science with an additional forth year to cover advanced coursework and the placement required to meet the course accreditation requirements of the Australian Institute of Medical and Laboratory Scientists (AIMS) and allow SCU graduates with better employment opportunities and prospects.

This position will also contribute to research and/or teaching scholarship of the Faculty of Health and will undertake relevant engagement and service activities to support the Faculty of Health. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a high standard of teaching and learning, educational design and delivery in keeping with University policy, procedure and guidelines.
  • Support and enhance the student learning experience by:
    • a learning-centred approach to education delivery;
    • actively engaging in the adoption of existing and emerging learning technology and platforms;
    • providing flexible options across face-to-face, blended and online modes.
  • Undertake research activities that align with the research profile of the Faculty.
  • Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that supports and enhances the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.

About you

With two years of professional experience as a medical laboratory scientist in a pathology laboratory with expertise in immunohematology practice, you will bring excellence in in unit/subject coordination and teaching at a tertiary level in Haematology and Transfusion Science.  In addition, you will possess:

  • Experience in the development of online educational programs that are engaging, interactive and media-rich.
  • An appropriate track record in research or teaching scholarship relative to level and academic profile.

For appointment at Lecturer, Level B, candidates will also possess a PhD in an area relating broadly to biomedical science and human health.

This position is a full-time, continuing (permanent) position located at our Gold Coast campus. Generous relocation support available.

The full-time base salary for an Associate Lecturer (Academic Level A) ranges from $74,559 - $100,213 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $117,249 per annum.

The full-time base salary for a Lecturer (Academic Level B) ranges from $105,344 - $124,584 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $145,764 per annum.
