Your new role
The School of Education is seeking to enhance its capacity in teaching and research within
Health and Physical Education. To be successful in this role you will need a doctoral qualification, or progress towards the completion of a PhD in a relevant field. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality, modern, innovative, and competitive teaching and research, and about how that teaching and research shapes pre-service health and physical education and prepares students for long term success in their careers.
In this role, you will be required to teach and possibly coordinate units as required. You may also be expected to proactively engage and collaborate with key stakeholders in the Department of Education at state and national levels of Government, athletic/sports organisations and/or with Independent and Religious education providers. You will be expected to contribute to the development and leadership of teaching and research programs.
Health and Physical Education
Health and physical education are dynamic and rapidly changing fields, in terms of teaching, research and education policy. The successful applicant with have contemporary knowledge of health and physical education and be able to contribute to delivering high-quality teaching and learning, industry-relevant research and to have a presence in relevant professional organisations.
The successful applicant will be expected to commence in the role by early 2023, or sooner if possible.
We encourage non-Australian citizens/residents to apply, however, as this is a continuing (permanent) role you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered, and you must be willing to relocate to Perth, Western Australia for the duration of the position as the role is Perth-based. The School of Education is a unique and attractive place to undertake teaching and research as our degrees are taught into all states and territories in Australia, meaning our reach and networks are broad in both teaching and research. The school also houses the WA node of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child, a high-profile ARC project collaboration that includes academics from Curtin’s Schools of Education, Allied Health, and Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry.
