We are seeking to appoint a part-time Associate Lecturer in Veterinary Pharmacology (Education Focused), who will contribute to providing excellent clinical teaching in veterinary pharmacology

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation, and outcomes

  • engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences (at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level) that meet the University’s expectations and standards for education-focused staff

  • design and deliver quality educational units of study and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements

  • engage in research supervision, in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the school

  • systematically collect and use feedback on student learning to adjust educational approaches to improve student outcomes

  • evaluate teaching and learning - both at a program level and in relation to own practice – and applies learnings to improve practice and outcomes

  • apply knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education.

Since the founding of veterinary science in 1910, the mission of the Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS) has been to provide the nation’s best training in the health, welfare, and conservation of animals. The School is internationally accredited with the American Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) and the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council. Veterinary science at Sydney is ranked 2nd in the Southern Hemisphere and 22nd in the world, according to the QS World University Subject Rankings 2022, and is rated 5/5 for research in the Australian Government’s 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia. Its Camden campus provides access to an extensive network of farms and research units, including pig, poultry and aquaculture facilities, veterinary diagnostic, pathology and imaging services, and dedicated research laboratory infrastructure.

About you

  • a relevant degree in veterinary science

  • demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter in veterinary clinical sciences and the importance of veterinary pharmacology to the veterinary sciences and human and animal health

  • ability, commitment, and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice

  • demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate an audience using a range of media

  • a deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings

  • experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
