About the Role
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking an Associate Lecturer in Speech Pathology to join our talented academic staff at Flinders University. The Associate Lecturer will contribute to quality research as well as the planning and delivery of topics within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses. In particular, we are seeking expertise in complex communication, swallowing and mealtime management needs in children.
As the Associate Lecturer in Speech Pathology, you will be responsible for:
- Developing teaching materials, delivering lectures/tutorials or other innovative teaching and learning strategies and coordinating placement education.
- Supporting students with academic and/or challenges associated with their academic progress.
- Contributing to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant acquisition and presentations that aligns with the College areas of research strength and focus.
- Providing a high-quality research contribution to Caring Futures Institute by collaborating and participating in cross‐disciplinary research activity.
- Participating in high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and research focus and contributing to the development of a respectful, trusting, and collaborative working environment
About You
With your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of staff, students, and industry stakeholders. Your natural ability to collaborate and engage with relevant external professional domains will develop productive partnerships that can provide opportunities for students and promote graduate employability. As the successful candidate, you will also exhibit:
- As a minimum, satisfactory completion of 3 years of tertiary study or equivalent qualifications and experience in Speech Pathology.
- Hold and maintain a current membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Evidence of teaching experience at a tertiary level within a relevant discipline, including the preparation of curriculum.
- Demonstrated evidence of research and/or evaluation experience within Speech Pathology or a related discipline, in the context of complex communication, swallowing and mealtime management needs in children.
Candidates who demonstrate the following will be highly regarded:
- Knowledge of course accreditation requirements for Speech Pathology.
- Completion of a PhD or EdD in Speech Pathology or related field (or substantial progress towards completing).
- Experience in coordinating and/or leading the activities of other staff.
- Experience and innovation using e-learning platforms for teaching purposes.
- Experience in the development of international and short course teaching delivery or collaboration.
