About the Role

If you are a qualified Occupational Therapist who is committed to the scholarship of tertiary teaching, Flinders University invites you to share your expertise to develop the next generation of career-ready graduates. 

As the Associate Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of the College’s Occupational Therapy topics using innovations in teaching practices and technologies. You will also be expected to concurrently engage in practice as an Occupational Therapist by providing high-quality contributions in a clinical or community setting to support the maintenance of contemporary practice. The Associate Lecturer in Occupational Therapy will also be responsible for:

  • Conducting teachings via various methods (lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, and workshops) and assessing students enrolled in Occupational Therapy topics, with a focus on clinical skills training and/or supervision of students undertaking work integrated learning.

  • Utilising your strong Occupational Therapy knowledge, you will liaise with Course Coordinators and Senior Academic Staff to develop topic and course materials and contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics.

  • Maintaining your professional knowledge relevant to Occupational Therapy through scholarship and professional development.

  • Participating in the College’s administrative activities (membership committees, working groups and meetings) and engaging in relevant external activities such as professional associations, conferences, and workshops.

Some out of hours’ work (including weekends) as well as rural SA, interstate, and overseas travel, may be required.

About You

You will utilise your strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of staff, students, and industry stakeholders. Your natural ability to collaborate and engage with relevant external professional domains will develop productive partnerships that can provide opportunities for students and promote graduate employability.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate:

  • As a minimum, satisfactory completion of 4 years tertiary study or equivalent qualification and experience in Occupational Therapy.

  • Registered with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.

  • A current membership with Occupational Therapy Australia.

  • Relevant and contemporary clinical experience in Occupational Therapy and an ability to maintain this concurrently within or outside of this position.

  • Evidence of teaching experience at a tertiary level within Occupational Therapy, with an understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship, and practice.
