The University is seeking to employ a talented Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) with a passion for teaching, pedagogical practice and design. The Associate Lecturer will contribute to teaching and learning within the Population Health Theme within the School of Public Health located in the Camperdown Campus while working with the support and guidance of more senior academic staff to develop their education proficiency.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide academic support to the Population Health team, including assisting with the preparation of teaching and assessment materials (eg quiz and exam questions), as directed by the Program Director or Senior Lecturer

  • coordinate, supervise and mark examinations/ assessments

  • ensure all teaching material is up to date and ready for delivery

  • contribute to teaching sessions, for example managing online chat discussions and coordinating presentations across a range of public health topics relevant for medical students

  • contribute to direct teaching (tutoring and lecturing) with guidance from the Population Health team

  • contribute collaboratively to curriculum development and evaluation as appropriate

  • participate in administrative processes to ensure compliance with institutional procedures.

About you

  • Master of Public Health, medical degree or other degree relevant to public health

  • completion of, or progress towards a PhD in a relevant field

  • interest and understanding of a broad range of public health topics of relevance to clinical practice

  • demonstrated experience in education, research or practice of relevance to public health

  • interest in developing and applying knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practice and design

  • strong interest and passion in students and teaching in a university environment

  • must be available to work two weekdays per week – Monday is essential.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
