About the position

This position is located in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, part of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences on Melbourne, Bundoora campus. The school has a reputation for innovative course design, the maintenance of a supportive student-centered learning environment and an outstanding research profile. The school offers a range of general and specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses that are rigorous, attuned to emerging trends and taught by staff at the forefront of their fields.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology undertakes a wide range of teaching and research programs in the area of data sciences, computational intelligence, software engineering, cybersecurity and mobile and wireless networks and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses that are rigorous and attuned to meeting the needs of students in ensuring their readiness to work in changing environments.

The Department is committed to the development and exploration of new and innovative teaching and research programs which drives opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration across the School and the University. Graduates of the Department are now in the faculties of universities world-wide as well as holding key positions in industry globally.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s, degree or higher in the relevant discipline with Honours (thesis component), and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.
  • Eligible and interested in enrolling for PhD in the relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by, for example, high results on student feedback on teaching surveys relative to their peers, or through other forms of evidence.
  • Evidence of innovative initiatives undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience.
  • Ability to engage with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively, collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a collaborative and collegial manner.
