  • Full time, fixed term until January 2023, offering a base salary from $78,143 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for an Associate Lecturer, Aboriginal Health to join The University of Sydney, Sydney Medical School based at the Rural Clinical School in the Northern Rivers.

As the Associate Lecturer – Aboriginal Health, you will contribute to the teaching and learning efforts within the Rural Clinical School – Northern Rivers, while working with the support and guidance of more senior academic staff to develop your research profile and education proficiency. You will work within a team to deliver programs and teaching to medical and allied health students attending the University Centre for Rural Health campuses in  Lismore and Grafton, and will build on and deliver the Baribunmani Program, which is designed to engage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to move into the health workforce.

About you

  • you will have a relevant degree or equivalent qualifications and experience

  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

  • you will have evidence of strong links and respect within the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

  • you will have experience conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity

  • you will have experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in teach teaching and teaching in a variety of settings

  • you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • you will have a current Australian driving licence.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
