As Associate Director, IDS Platform Management and Development, you will be responsible for the strategic vision and direction of a broad range of platforms and applications that enable the University’s vision and mission for the coming years.
In this role you will lead six platform teams organised around the customer enabling platforms and applications that deliver key business capabilities for the University. These include:
1. Research Support
2. Service Management & Process Automation
3. Student & Financial Management
4. Student Learning & Teaching
5. Customer Relationship Management, Web & Marketing
6. Human Resources Management
You will be responsible for ensuring each platform team manages the day-to-day operations of their respective portfolio of platforms and applications, while also supporting the development of new features and functionality for university customers. Balancing the ongoing demand between day-to-day operations and new development is at the core of this role.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will work closely with key university stakeholders and teams to ensure the platforms and applications are aligned with the strategic and operational objectives of IDS customers.
As a Senior Manager, you will also provide strong leadership to the IDS team and proactively manage their performance.

Key Position Responsibilities

The key position responsibilities include: 

Leadership 

  • Leading team members, including organising and managing all resources to ensure the most effective outcomes are achieved within the team. 

  • Being the IDS Project Sponsor and Program Lead for the successful delivery of IDS Capital Infrastructure Program (CIP) projects that have benefits and/or outcomes for the community at Flinders.  This will include directly managing all IDS Project Managers that are leading projects. 

  • Mentoring and developing the management and leadership capacity of all direct reports and proactively fostering the development of all staff.  Ensuring that appropriate reporting and measures are established to monitor, review and continuously improve the performance of the team. 

  • Periodically participating in knowledge building activities and events to be aware of latest/best practices related to the role and to keep skills and knowledge up to date. 

Customer Engagement & Success 

  • Collaborating and supporting the relevant teams and stakeholders to develop and deliver their respective customer engagement and success models. 

  • Working closely with the relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure team priorities are aligned with the strategic and operational objectives of relevant IDS customers. 

Risk, Governance & Ways of Working 

  • Establishing, implementing and continuously reviewing and refining an appropriate DevOps operating model for the group. 

  • Actively supporting and contributing to the  governance model for IDS related activities and projects in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders, to support the ongoing review and prioritisation of IDS related activities and to ensure all of IDS have a clear understanding of IDS related priorities at any point in time. 

  • In collaboration with all IDS Associate Directors, providing leadership, direction and input into a consistent planning and prioritisation process for all of IDS that aligns with the University strategic objectives. 

  • Managing any relevant strategic vendor relationships in accordance with University procurement policies. 

  • Identifying, managing and mitigating risks related to the activities being undertaken by the role in line with IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. 

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. 

Financial Management 

  • Managing the team’s financial performance in consultation with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), ensuring that all aspects of the budget are managed effectively and in accordance with University policies. 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University. 

Key Position Capabilities

  • A degree in business, management, computer science, business technology or other relevant degree qualification. 

  • Advanced strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills and actively contributes to achieve outcomes and meet the University's strategic goals. 

  • High level skills in leading a team to its full potential, including advanced interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to manage staff performance. 

  • Extensive experience in building and managing customer relationships in a strategic and long-term context. 

  • Extensive experience in agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure. 

  • High level self-improvement and growth mindset/approach to the role and fosters it amongst the wider team. 

  • Advanced interpersonal influence and demonstrated ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff and customers across a diverse organisation particularly during the design, management and implementation of customer solutions. 

  • Extensive experience in successfully delivering significant projects with customer focussed outcomes and/or benefits. 

  • Extensive experience in building, developing, and maturing organisational/technology capabilities in a matrix model context. 

  • Higher education experience advantageous.
