  • Full Time, Fixed Term until January 2025 

  • Salary Level HEW 10A plus superannuation 

  • Based at either the Melbourne, Brunswick or Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University and Australian Defence locations. 


 


About the Position 
The Associate Director, Defence will be responsible for developing and implementing the Defence contract with the Joint Logistics Command of the Australian Defence Force. This role will work to support the initial phase in plan and then the ongoing delivery and management of the Defence programs in line with the contract requirements and expectations.   


  


This role requires a highly skilled educational leader and manager who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, setting strategic directions and building team capability. The role will involve relationship management, negotiating and collaborating with the Australian Defence Force, University and other stakeholders on matters that have significant, long term, operational impact.  


  


Key responsibilities include leading the implementation of projects, and cross-functional initiatives, managing the end-to-end operational requirements required to set up new programs and supporting capability planning to build capacity in implementation of the new programs areas.   


  


The role will also need to ensure that programs are compliant to all University requirements and regulatory specifications, and build strong relationships with teaching, technical support and administration staff. 


 


To be successful in this position, you’ll have:  


  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in contract and relationship management and program delivery with the Australian Defence Force 

  • Demonstrated ability to create and lead strategic projects from concept to business as usual, using contemporary leadership skills that effectively empower and motivate key stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrated educational leadership experience and experience in operational management, planning cycles, financial management and continuous improvement processes. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships and action agreed outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, facilitate and present to varied audiences. 

  • Ability to critically analyse information and develop commercially viable proposals and recommendations to senior leaders and implement initiatives under minimal supervision. 

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the vocational education and training sector and the requirements of quality and compliance related to programs. 

  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a discrete and professional manner. 

  • An understanding of government funding models and executing project funding is highly desirable.

Joint Logistics Command (JLC) has undertaken an innovative approach to enable the development of Logistics personnel across the Defence Logistics Enterprise. The strategic partnership with RMIT University has now commenced and this action has culminated in the establishment of the Australian Defence Logistics College (ADLC). The ADLC will have a maturing scope to support the design, development, delivery and management of all Joint logistics training, through the provision of training services.
