Overview
We are seeking an experienced academic Nursing and Midwifery  leader at the Associate Professor or Professor level, with a passion for innovation in learning and teaching to join our energetic, forward-thinking team on our Joondalup Campus located in Perth, Western Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to make a difference at ECU through innovation in research, teaching and learning.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is at the cutting-edge of nurse education and research. We graduate the most registered nurses in Western Australia, as well as provide a comprehensive range of postgraduate programs of study which prepare students for positions in the nursing and midwifery professions. The School also undertakes research at a level above world standard, with our work being cited 1 ½ times more than the world average in collaboration with our well-established health care partnerships.

If successful, you will be appointed to a continuing academic position as Professor or Associate Professor within the School. You will serve an initial term of three years as Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning). The role will involve a commitment of between 3 and 4 days’ a week with the remainder of time devoted to research and scholarship.

The successful applicant: 

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;
  • Will have completed a PhD,
  • Will have completed qualifications in education and/or can demonstrate educational experience within a tertiary or clinical practice setting;
  • Will have undertaken research related activities within a tertiary education or clinical practice setting; and
  • Will demonstrate a sound professional and academic track record in nursing.

Formal mentorship will be provided to the successful applicant.

Benefits & Remuneration
The successful applicant will be appointed to a full-time, continuing position as either Associate Professor or Professor (depending on prior level of achievement). The concurrent fixed-term role of Associate Dean Teaching and Learning (initial term of three years) will attract additional remuneration. A generous relocation allowance is available to enable a successful applicant to move from elsewhere in Australia to Perth. ECU supports a work/life balance for staff. You should highlight key examples of your experience and expertise, enabling the selection committee to assess your application against the criteria above.

The second part is a statement (maximum 1 page) that addresses the ongoing contribution you will make as a senior academic at professorial level and how you see yourself within the School’s array of disciplines and research programs.

The third part is a detailed curriculum vitae, including summaries of the key academic leadership roles you have held or hold currently.
