Why Your Role Matters:
The Associate Dean Education (Innovation) is an academic leadership role with overall strategic and operational responsibilities of the Faculty’s education activities, which currently includes an array of programs in UNSW Medicine & Health. In this role, you will be responsible for the provision of creative leadership in the development and implementation of innovative pedagogies and strategies in alignment with the Faculty’s Health 25 Strategy, as well as effective strategic management of teaching and learning and quality assurance in the Faculty’s education portfolio.
The primary focus for the first three years of this role will be to lead, together with the Clinical Lead and Project Manager, an ongoing project to redesign the UNSW Medicine program. You will be responsible, in collaboration with Faculty staff, students and external stakeholders, for guiding an evidence-based renewal of the Medicine program. In particular, you will provide leadership in development and implementation of cutting-edge innovations in medical education, to ensure that graduates of the UNSW Medicine program are well equipped for medical practice in the mid-21st century.
The Associate Dean Education (Innovation) will collaborate with other senior members of the Faculty and across UNSW Sydney, to ensure excellence of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. In particular, you will provide leadership in innovative education strategies across all our programs and stakeholders to ensure the integration of infrastructure for students in Medicine, Optometry and allied health programs. This includes interprofessional education in the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct and Liverpool Innovation Precinct as well as emerging metropolitan and rural Precincts associated with UNSW Medicine & Health.
Who You Are:
To be considered for this role you will hold a PhD in medicine or a healthcare discipline, experience or qualifications in medical education would be advantageous. You will have an excellent track record of innovation in education, with proven capacity for education leadership. To be appointed at a Level E, in addition to the above, you will have a proven record of management experience and effective leadership, mentoring and team building capabilities within a healthcare discipline in a higher education environment as well as national and/or international profile in healthcare education.
