About the Role 
Working as part of the Indigenous Art and Culture team, dive into the University's Indigenous Collections, with a spotlight on the remarkable Donald Thompson Collection .  

Your focus is to codesign engaging curatorial experiences for the public. Collaborate closely with our Director,Indigenous Collections and Senior Curator to shape curatorial programs, innovative projects, and captivating platforms. Elevate contemporary curatorial standards in collection research, documentation, scholarly engagement, exhibitions (both physical and digital), and more. Your expertise will play a crucial role in preserving and showcasing this unique collection.  

Your responsibilities will include: 


  • Collaborating with colleagues to improve the documentation and discoverability of the University's Indigenous Collections, with a special emphasis on the Donald Thomson Collection, adhering to cultural and curatorial protocols and standards. 

  • Contributing to the delivery of engaging audience-focused research outcomes. 

  • Contributing to the development of exhibitions, publications, programs, and promotional material related to the Art Museums Program and Indigenous Collections. 


Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for passionate people with knowledge of historical and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art practices. You will possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Your IT and project management skills will make you an asset to this team. 


You will also have: 


  • A relevant tertiary degree or equivalent experience/training is required. 

  • Demonstrated success in curating and delivering art exhibitions, publications, and programs.
