About the team
At our University, Finance plays a pivotal role in ensuring the responsible management of our financial resources. We provide strategic financial advice, establish robust financial frameworks, oversee procurement, and manage our investment portfolios. Our team, structured around Financial Compliance, Financial Performance, and Procurement, supports stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, from executive leadership to individual staff and students.

About the opportunity
As the Assistant Accountant (Tax & Assets), you will provide essential support to our Financial Compliance team, with a primary focus on taxation and asset register management. Your role will involve offering expert advice to staff on GST, FBT, and fixed asset processes, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field or equivalent competency.
  • Substantial administrative and financial management experience.
  • Proficient understanding of Australian tax legislation and accounting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Competency in computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with system controls and processes.
