About the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS)

The Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) is the Australasian association of research management professionals.   Flinders University is the host organisation for the ARMS Executive Office and provides resources for the Society to operate its business at Flinders University’s Bedford Park Campus.

Since its founding in 1999, the ARMS network has grown to involve more than 4000 members from universities, independent research institutions, government and health and research organisations from across the Australasian region including Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Our mission is the development of research management professionals; the promotion of the profession of research management; and the advancement of the research enterprise and is fulfilled by:

  • A strong, agile and resilient network of research management professionals at all levels and in a variety of settings through personal relationships and professional collaborations, presentations, formal and informal meetings and publications;

About the Role

We are seeking an Events Administration Assistant who will provide administrative support services for the delivery of all ARMS conferences and major events. These include delegate and speaker liaison, registration management, logistics, catering, marketing, app development and onsite work, sponsor management.

Ideally, the successful applicant will hold a diploma level qualification in event management or related field, however an equivalent combination of demonstrated experience and/or education and/or training will also be considered.

This role also requires:

  • Quality customer service and developing relationships with conference delegates and other key stakeholders of the Society, including sponsors.

  • Experience using social media and assisting with social media announcements and general support across the team.

  • Supporting the update of content on the ARMS and other ARMS branded event websites as directed.

  • Assisting in the maintenance of delegate registrations on a dedicated computerised database.

About You

You will possess excellent people skills and are highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines. You will ideally have experience working in an administrative position, but recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.

To be successful in this role you will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with effective written communication skills.

  • Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

  • Ability to form effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with social media [platforms, such as Hootsuite

Experience using Event application software such as – Canva, WordPress and Events Air, will be highly regarded.
