Fixed term, full-time position available until August 2024

This Post-doctoral Research position is within the ARC funded Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources. The purpose of this Training Centre is to deliver the vital enabling tools – advanced sensors, data analytics and artificial intelligence for automated, integrated and optimised mining.

The Training Centre comprises three university partners (University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and Curtin University), two mining companies (BHP and OZ Minerals) and 20 mining equipment, technology and services companies and organisations.

The successful applicant will work with two other Post-Doctoral Researchers in an inter-disciplinary environment alongside academic researchers, 16 Higher Degree by Research (HDR) scholars and industry partners. The Post-Doctoral Researchers will work with, and participate in, the supervision of the 16 HDR scholars and will work closely with the Chief Investigators on selected research themes. To be successful you will need:

• A PhD in a discipline relevant to the Training Centre. Relevant disciplines include mining engineering, mineral processing, metallurgy, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied geology, physics, computer science, geostatistics, mathematics, and related areas.
• An ability to apply, adapt and develop methods relevant to the Post-Doctoral Research position or the demonstrated ability to acquire this expertise in the short-term and to work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
• Good programming skills.
• Strong inter-personal communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
• Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community
