Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Aquatic Operations Officer to join HiQ, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The Aquatic Operations Officer has the primary responsibility to co-ordinate day to day operations of the facility with the highest regard to safety and high quality service delivery. The Officer will be responsible for leading, coaching and engaging a team of duty staff and lifeguards, hazard prevention, pool checks and maintenance, swim program delivery support and ensuring operational compliance with policies and procedures and statutory requirements.

QUT sport has strategic and operational oversight of sport activities and programs at QUT..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree with and/or relevant work experience in a sporting environment.
  • Proven experience in the operation and running of an aquatic centre, fitness centre, outdoor recreational centre, or customer service style business which supplies services for people in a public domain.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering swim safety, or other related aquatics programs in a recreational, university and/or public facing facility 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate programs and operations in a busy environment. 
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team to ensure aquatics program and facility operations are maintained to a very high standard.
