The Opportunity

The Office of Research Ethics and Integrity has an opportunity to join the team as an Animal Ethics Officer.

The Animal Ethics Officer plays a key administrative role in fulfilling the University’s responsibilities in relation to compliance with legislation pertaining to the use of animals for research and teaching purposes.

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for ensuring effective operation of one of the University's Animal Ethics Committees, and providing professional and well-timed advice to all researchers on matters relating to regulatory requirements, committee processes and approved projects. The position will also be involved in continuous improvement strategies to improve the compliance and operational application and review processes for animal ethics at Monash University.

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legislative framework governing the use of animals in research and teaching, and a broad understanding of the ethical and welfare impacts of research and teaching activities involving animals.
