Alumni & Community Relations Coordinator

About us

We are a global institution committed to excellence in research, education and community engagement.

While government funding and competitive research grants enable us to deliver high-impact outcomes and an innovative learning experience for students, support from alumni and friends helps to ensure Curtin excels in its mission to transform lives and communities, and to retain its ranking as one of the best universities globally and in Australia.

Your new role

The Alumni and Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of stakeholder engagement programs and campaigns that are designed to encourage graduates and the wider community to support Curtin’s strategic initiatives.
Programs/campaigns are substantive and diverse, requiring skills in connecting interpersonally with individuals or with larger groups, organising special events, and communications across multiple platforms, annual giving, bequests and volunteer management, and may be university-wide or faculty/discipline-focussed.

You will work collaboratively with members of the Advancement team and colleagues across the University, and regularly engage with Curtin graduates, donors, volunteers, students and former staff. Your team is small but creative, strategic, motivated and outcomes-driven.

In this role you will…

  • With support from your line manager, develop, implement and manage programs, including alumni engagement activities, communications, annual giving and/or bequests, as required, to help drive the alumni and community relations strategy.
  • Ensure all work is meaningfully focused on building an engaged and connected alumni community and increasing alumni and staff donor participation.
  • Participate as an active member of the team in support of any Advancement campaign.
  • In collaboration with the Partnerships and Engagement team, develop effective communication plans for assigned portfolios, and write and coordinate purposeful communications across a range of platforms for target audiences. Communications is inclusive of electronic direct mail (EDM), website, print collateral and social media.
  • Develop and contribute to activities to strengthen relationships with donors and other supporters.
  • Proactively work to develop and maintain quality relationships with alumni – through both one-to-one and mass engagement – to develop supporters, volunteers and donors.
  • Update contact details and write CRM reports on purposeful engagement with supporters.
  • Administer relevant shared mailboxes and phone lines.
  • Maintain work plans on assigned responsibilities and provide updates to your line manager, as required.
  • Proactively contribute to University Advancement goals, adopt best practice standards and adhere to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Recognise, manage and report risks to your line manager.
  • Demonstrate the highest possible standards of professional and personal conduct, modelling the University’s Values and Signature Behaviours.
  • Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.
Why choose Curtin?
  • A vibrant, supportive and dedicated team environment.
  • Easily accessible location with great parking, bus station and end of trip facilities.
  • State of the art offices and agile working.
  • A flexible benefits package with excellent superannuation provisions.

  • Work has commenced on the extension to Curtins facilities; Exchange is dedicated to being an industry-connected innovation precinct.
  • Curtin continues to be a leader in reconciliation in the Higher Education sector, being one of the first Universities to receive accreditation for an Elevate RAP - the highest level within Reconciliation Australia’s Workplace RAP Framework.
