The eDNA Frontiers group, situated within the School of Molecular and Life Sciences are seeking an enthusiastic Administrative Officer to join our hard-working team.

Our ideal candidate will enjoy flexible arrangements for hours and days to coordinate requirements between our small enthusiastic team of 6.  For the science curious, training and opportunities will be available to support various initiatives and be involved with the broader group of the Trace and Environmental DNA (TrEnD) academic research group. Working from home can be facilitated for part of the 0.6FTE.

The role of Administrative Officer is interesting, exciting, and varied, and your days will involve provide general operational support necessary for the effective functioning of the laboratory and customer care teams.

This includes but is not limited to:


  • Request quotes, organise purchase orders, reconcile receipts and liaise with the finance team to complete transactions smoothly
  • Manage communications with the lab teams to help manage consumable stocks
  • Maintain equipment records and update databases
  • Organise meetings and prepare meeting minutes
  • Communicate and meet with sales representatives
  • Manage and coordinate responses from a shared inbox
  • Liaise, book, and prepare field equipment for clients, maintain a booking system and organise servicing as required
  • Assist the Business Manager with organising promotional materials, events and updating the website
  • Assist the Business Manager with other marketing activities as and when required

To be successful in the role, you will take a proactive and collaborative approach to the way you work. You will have a strong eye for detail and take pride in your work, no matter the size or complexity of the task at hand. Your outstanding interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills will enable you to work effectively with all staff, students, visitors, and other internal and external stakeholders.

A willingness to learn and an interest in tackling complex issues would be welcome. Familiarity with working in large organisations with multiple groups and systems is an advantage.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

eDNA frontiers is an industry driven service and contract research group, located at Curtin University. This innovative initiative translates the latest environmental DNA (eDNA) technologies developed with its sister lab the Trace and Environmental DNA (TrEnD) laboratory to enable industry, government and the public access to this cutting-edge biodiversity discovery tool.
