  • Commencement Salary: $59,338 pro rata per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role 

Based in Whyalla, as a member of the UniSA Department of Rural Health (DRH) team, the Administrative Officer: Clinic supports the teaching and research activities of the Whyalla Clinic and more broadly the DRH. A key focus of the role will be the provision of high level customer service to key stakeholders.

The University of South Australia’s Department of Rural Health (DRH) is aligned to the UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Academic Unit within the portfolio of the Dean: Clinical Education and Equity. 

The DRH is funded through the Australian Government Department of Health’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program, which aims to improve the recruitment and retention of medical, dental, nursing and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia in the following key areas:

  • Providing effective rural training experiences for health students
  • Developing an evidence base for the efficacy of rural training strategies in delivering rural health workforce outcomes
  • Supporting rural health professionals to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
  • Increasing the number of rural origin health and medical students
  • Maximising the investment of program funds in rural, regional and remote areas for the maintenance of well supported academic networks to enhance the delivery of training to students and the provision of medical services to communities

Core Responsibilities 
  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming enquiries to the Clinic from within and external to the University, including email, telephone and in person
  • Provide ongoing quality customer service while ensuring effective management of clinic administrative activities 
  • Maintain consultation rooms to the required standards, ensuring compliance with WHS guidelines
  • Under supervision of the Manager: DRH, undertake finance administration for the Clinic and ensure compliance with the University’s Finance policy framework and the Academic Unit’s finance procedures
  • Undertake purchases within the University’s delegated authorisations as directed

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • Successful completion of the South Australian Certificate of Education (or equivalent), or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated previous experience in a reception or administrative position involving the provision of high quality customer service to key stakeholders both within and external to an organisation
  • Demonstrated understanding of finance administration including reconciliations, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Demonstrated experience in using all programs in the Microsoft Office suite and a corporate information system
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including experience in prioritising and meeting deadlines
